A large healthcare organisation is looking to appoint an exciting new opportunity for a Deputy Director of Governance: Knowledge and Learning.

This is an interim post for 3 months initially working in the West Midlands with a mix of on site and remote working. This is a Band 8b-8c dependent upon experience – emphasis on the learning element.

Responsible for leading the development and implementation of the organisation’s ‘welearn’ programme that systematises on how learning is shared.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Manage and oversee the strategic planning and implementation of the welearn programme ensuring that key milestones are achieved, and the required outcomes met;
  • Work with senior leaders to deliver a performance and operational plan that supports the welearn programme and provides the necessary assurance;
  • Oversee and lead on programmes of work, and projects within the remit of the welearn agenda, ensuring synergy with other organisational priorities and projects;
  • Ensure that the welearn programme is centred on improving patient outcomes and experience through promoting learning from excellence and preventing errors;
  • Working with the Performance and Insight and Governance teams, support the organisation to become smarter at simplifying national datasets and synthesising internal data about the quality of care to identify our improvement opportunity;
  • Manage risks relating to the welearn programme, ensuring that appropriate mitigations are in place and that risks are escalated as appropriate to the Executive Sponsor;
  • Contribute to the organisation’s delivery work on its Safety Plan, Quality Plan, People Plan, and the national Patient Safety strategy;
  • Responsible for managing the corporate Clinical Effectiveness function, which incorporates the Library and Knowledge management team, in line with Group and organisation requirements;
  • Ensure development and delivery of the corporate Clinical Audit Programme, ensuring the organisation meets it Quality Account obligations in relation to participation in national audits.
A successful candidate will have:
  • Must have senior management experience within the NHS and leading teams;
  • Experienced within Clinical Governance having a knowledge and expertise in Patient Safety, Risk and Learning;
  • Understanding of NHS policies and procedures;
  • Able to delivery Governance agenda within a Healthcare setting.
