A large healthcare organisation is looking to appoint a Clinical Governance Lead - Incidents and Risk Management on an interim basis for 3 months.

The post will commence immediately, working in the East Midlands with at least 2/3 days working on site and 2/3 days working remotely.

This is a competitive role dependant on experience and looking for band 8b – 8d candidates.
Lead on serious incidents/complex incidents, RCA and Risk Management in Maternity Services and Non – Maternity.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Ensure that the systems and processes for management of risk and prompt investigations of serious incidents is consistent with enabling lessons to be learnt, communicated and embedded in practice;
  • Ensure that the system of clinical governance captures learning from low and no harm incidents effectively;
  • Work in partnership with the DLT to provide a framework for testing compliance with guidelines and policies through clinical audit;
  • Identify trends in complaints and untoward incidents and initiate changes in practice in collaboration with the Divisional Leadership Team if indicated;
  • Review the system for complaint management across the service to ensure the prompt investigation of complaints relating to Maternity services/ and Non-Maternity Services whilst working in partnership with multi-disciplinary colleagues across the Division;
  • Provide a framework for the completion of reports, relevant to portfolio, to the Board of Directors, Commissioners and external bodies as required;
  • Review existing service arrangements pertaining to completion of Duty of Candour and make recommendations for improvement if required in line with existing Trust Policies;
  • Complete a review of existing clinical governance arrangements within the service including a review of existing roles and responsibilities across the service;
  • Develop a programme to engage and educate staff in the application and management of clinical governance processes.
A successful candidate will have:
  • Senior level experience within the NHS/a Healthcare setting;
  • Expertise in Serious Incidents, Root Cause Analysis and risk Management.
  • Clinically registered;
  • Experience within Maternity Services.
