Interim Head of Urgent Care - Band 8c

Woodrow Mercer Healthcare are supporting a large acute provider to identify Interim Urgent Care support for a period of 6 months to start before the end of June.

The successfully appointed Interim will need extensive provider side U&EC experience across the whole non-elective pathway and will be able to work as part of a cohesive team, providing proactive and visible leadership across four key areas – service leadership, people and personal leadership, quality leadership, and collaborative leadership whist the organisation continue to pursue a substantive appointment.

Working with the Divisional Director of UEC and Associate Director of Nursing you will contribute to developing the strategic direction of the Trust, sharing best practice and integrating this knowledge within the Trust whilst you are in post; but you will also be part of a team pushing to implement the anticipated non-elective flow metrics that will replace the 4 hour target in the longer term.

We are seeking to appoint a candidate with extensive management experience gained within an Acute NHS Trust, a proven track record of leading and sustaining transformational change within a complex organisation, intellectual agility, and highly developed interpersonal skills. 

We are looking for a seasoned Interim with deep and extensive knowledge of Urgent & Emergency Care and the component parts of successful patient flow in a large and complex organisation.

We need an Interim with the ability to hit the ground running in a large provider organisation and to work with the senior team to drive performance and accountability in relation to U&EC from day one.

The most important aspect of this role is the ability to hit the ground running, start the role before the end of June and to work on-site side by side with the teams on the ground.
