An exciting opportunity has arisen with a large NHS Organisation for a Head of Quality Governance.

The post will be working in the East of England, on an interim basis for 3+ months, at a band 8b.

The post-holder will be responsible for developing and embedding an effective strategy for Quality Governance and Assurance which ensures that quality and safety are seen as responsibility of all staff.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Establish, maintain, and manage procedures for clinical governance in the organisation;
  • Responsible for professional leadership and development of improvement strategies within for Quality Governance Assurance, Clinical Risk Management, Clinical Audit, and Litigation;
  • Foster a culture of support from the quality governance teams to the organisational clinical service lines (CSLs) to facilitate the delivery of high quality, safe and patient centred services;
  • Ensure readiness and compliance against the relevant requirements of the Care Quality Commission and other accreditation bodies;
  • Ensure the provision by the legal team of the full range of cost-effective legal services to secure sensitive, practical, and timely implementation of lawful instruction, promote the organisation’s interests and maintain its public reputation;
  • Line-manage and ensure organisational support to clinical risk and safety investigations;
  • Manage the organisation’s response to the National Central Alert System ensuring that all safety alerts are acknowledged, distributed, responded to and actioned within the required timescales;
  • Develop and deliver organisation-wide training programmes, relating to incident and risk management, clinical quality, audit and effectiveness, legal and other relevant training.
The ideal candidate will have:
  • Must have extensive Senior Management experience within the NHS/ A Healthcare organisation;
  • Experienced leading the Governance agenda, Quality Assurance and Risk Management;
  • Provide advice on patient safety, clinical risk and clinical governance issues to all staff as required;
  • Ability to develop and nurture collaborative working relationships with key stakeholders.
