The post holder will support the General Manager in the day to day operational and performance management of the Business Unit. They will provide effective leadership contributing towards the achievement of the financial forecast and delivery of contracted activity, to implement local / national policy / strategy, achieve local and national targets and deliver service development.

The main duties of this job include:

 

Operational running of your designated speciality areas Financial Management of your designated speciality areas The delivery of challenging local and national NHS targets or the development and implementation of plans to deliver these where they are not complaint Developing services that will be fit for the future and that deliver safe, quality, timely patient care Leadership of your speciality areas, motivating your own team and the wider multidisciplinary team to delivery on challenging targets Representing your speciality areas at internal and external meetings and providing assurance to the General Manager on Operations, Finances, and workforce. Challenging the status quo and seeking to continuously improve the service that we deliver. Drive the efficiency agenda in your area Coach, mentor and develop your team to achieve their goals and to achieve the wider strategic objectives of your specialities, the Business Unit and the Division. KEY RESULT AREAS/Deliverables/Key Activities:

 

To be responsible for the management of the identified part of the Business Unit, including but not limited to, ward areas, assessment units, outpatient areas, daycase and theatre suites, administrative areas etc. To ensure the delivery of key performance targets ( e.g. 4hr A&E, 18 weeks, cancer etc.) within the service area as agreed with the General Manager To develop and implement systems for monitoring demand trends and ensuring staffing levels are appropriate for the demand level To develop operational policies and procedures to ensure that available resources are deployed in the best interests of patients To support the General Manager and work with the Clinical Director and Assistant Clinical Directors to ensure that the service operates safe and timely assessment, referral and discharge To implement internal service redesign/ development techniques across the Business Unit, and ensure that tangible improvements in service are achieved and sustained To ensure that clinical and management staff are fully engaged in the service redesign processes To work effectively as part of the Business Unit team and to support the overall strategic direction and operational agenda of the management team To support the development and implementation of the Trust Winter Plan, as it relates to all of the areas included within the Business Unit To operate strict managerial control over allocated budgets, ensuring good value for money and delivering within specialty budgets Key facts about our Trust:
