Description:

An exciting opportunity has arisen within a large NHS organisation for a capable Corporate Governance Lead/ Board Secretary.

The role will be working on an interim basis for 6+ months based in the North West. The role will be salaried at a Band 8a – 8b, working inside IR35.

The post holder will be responsible for establishing strong Corporate Governance within the Board and its committees, as well as taking responsibility for coordinating internal and external stakeholder engagement.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the administration and oversight of four Board committees, council of governors and the organisation’s management board;
  • Collating Council of Governors and board papers for distribution;
  • Able to coordinate meetings and take minutes with the accuracy to follow up on matters arising from the meetings;
  • Support governors with any queries they may have outside of CoG meetings, and escalating them to the Director of Corporate Affairs where appropriate;
  • Assist the Director of Corporate Affairs in the governor election and annual members meetings, and declarations of interests;
  • Provide adequate administrative support to facilitate the effective working of the Board and its Committees;
  • Ensure the Trust has sound, integrated corporate governance arrangements, policies, and procedures in place;
  • Establish and monitor procedures to ensure that the Trust complies with all relevant legislation;
  • Contribute to the development of systems, control process and risk management arrangements that comply with internal and external governance and best practice requirements.
A successful candidate will have:
  • Must have prior experience within the NHS/ a healthcare setting;
  • A relevant degree or equivalent level of experience;
  • Considerable experience of working at Board or senior level;
  • Knowledge of corporate governance and board management;
  • The ability to remain calm under pressure.
