Job Details
A large healthcare organisation is looking to appoint a long term interim professional for an initial period of 12 months. Candidate must have experience within NHS/Healthcare Catering. This can either be directly with an NHS organisation or a service provider/contractor of catering services to healthcare settings.
Main Responsibilities:
- Delivery of a cost effective and high quality catering service to patients, staff and visitors. To make decisions on a day to day basis where problems need resolving quickly;
- Responsible for the day to day operations including patients, staff and visitors. The manager will be hands on and quality driven, through the team spirit. It is envisaged that 75% of the manager’s time will be a practical application to the services;
- Undertaking day-to-day responsibility, for all aspects of the catering department. More importantly is the team spirit and close daily co-operation with the Senior Chefs and kitchen staff. This is vital for good communication in ensuring and maintaining high standards of food and service;
- Responsible for maximising the income and reducing the overall subsidy to the Trust. This will be done by monitoring and analysing prices regularly and producing evidence that food production for the restaurants matches income and receipts;
- Hands on approach to the services will ensure the correct portion control, the reduction in food wastage and to ensure that the staffing of the department relates to the income. All staff rosters will be authorised by the manager weekly;
- Responsible for the continuing professional development and overall performance of the staff in the catering department, having regular team meetings and update/feedback on operational details to be held at least every two weeks in each department;
- Play a major role in the continuous development of the Trust as a member of the Catering Estates Management Team and as a potential member of a range of Trust quality/process improvement project groups.
- Degree or equivalent OND, HND in Catering studies, postgraduate knowledge through training and experience to masters equivalent level;
- Intermediate and Final certificate in Food hygiene;
- Extensive experience in food service as a manager in a large scale public sector production kitchen;
- Experience in controlling an allocated budget within a healthcare based setting.
