About us
Healthwatch is the public’s health and social care champion. We listen to the experiences of everyone who uses GPs and hospitals, dentists, pharmacies, care homes, and other support services.
As an independent statutory body, we have the power to make sure NHS leaders, social care and other decision-makers in England listen to feedback and improve standards of care. Last year, we helped nearly a million people to share their experiences and get the information they need.
The role
As National Director, you’ll provide leadership to our national team and network of local Healthwatch services and be a powerful advocate for care that works for people. You’ll bring the public’s views to the heart of national decisions about the NHS and social care, and continue to build our influence, effectiveness and impact.
Your job will involve:
Working with our Committee to guide strategy and advise on the use of our statutory powers.
Building strong relationships with senior leaders in Government, Parliament, the NHS and other partners.
Representing us externally and providing policymakers with impartial advice on the views of patients and service users.
Building the capacity and capability of our network of local Healthwatch services.
You’ll also support a culture that enables our staff to flourish and be accountable for our operational delivery, including financial management and staff performance.
About you
We are looking for a new National Director with the passion, integrity and drive to help us achieve our vision.
You'll be a highly experienced leader with a history of advocating on behalf of others and influencing the Government to achieve change. You'll need to understand the health and social care system and be an excellent communicator, both in person and in front of the media.
You'll also need to be a clear strategic thinker with a passion for tackling inequalities and be able to provide leadership, guidance and constructive challenge at board level.
We welcome applications from people from the diverse communities we serve. So, if you embody the values of Healthwatch and share our vision for a world where we can all get the health and care we need, apply now.
