A large healthcare organisation is looking to appoint a senior clinical professional, who holds extensive management experience across Family Health /Women’s and Childrens Services. The appointment will be starting in September 2021, and is expected to be 6 months minimum in duration. 

Main Responsibilities:
  • Working in partnership with senior leadership in the organisation, accountable for the delivery of clinical quality standards, patient safety and the overall patient experience, providing professional leadership, advice and support to ensure there is consistency of practice, high standards of care with a strong patient safety focus;
  • Will hold operational accountability for the Nursing/AHP workforce in addition to gynaecology, genetics, sexual health and fertility nursing staffing;
  • Foster a culture that promotes openness and where staff have the confidence to speak up in support of providing safe and efficient patient care and services;
  • Ensure that all nurses in the Childrens Hospital and specified specialties as outlined above are registered with the NMC and have completed their appraisal revalidation and CPD;
  • Ensure that all AHP’s within the Childrens Hospital and specified specialties are appropriately registered;
  • Undertake regular reviews of nursing (and midwifery) numbers and skill mix and to adapt the nursing workforce to meet service demands in the safest and most affordable way;
  • As part of the Leadership Team to provide inspirational leadership so that all staff are engaged and motivated to provide safe and effective patient care in support of the aims of the Division. Make provision for succession planning and development to support others to develop;
  • Support the delivery of the highest level of performance against national and local standards;
  • Lead on delivery of performance against nursing quality and safety agenda, ensuring performance is monitored against a range of corporate and local indicators, providing assurance to the Trust.
A successful candidate will have:
  • At least 10 years post registration experience, with a minimum of 5 years at a senior Nurse level (or relevant clinical specialty e.g. AHP). Hold current registration to NMC/HCPC.
  • Knowledge of clinical governance, risk management and associated control mechanisms.
  • Highly developed leadership skills;
  • Ability to communicate a compelling vision of the future of nursing/AHPs;
  • The ability to manage the process of change and overcome resistance to change in working practices.
