An exciting opportunity has arisen, supporting a large healthcare organisation for a Senior Operational Estates Manager.

This is an interim post for 3 months working in London on a band 8b (Inside IR35, through an umbrella solution).

Responsible for providing safe and efficient day to day operational management of building and engineering services.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Delivery of small estates projects, painting and refurbishment programmes to maintain high quality environments that staff are proud to work in and people feel comfortable receiving care in;
  • Ensuring the service delivery is satisfactory and is always responsive to clients’ requirements;
  • Act as the Trust’s specialist for all engineering and maintenance matters giving professional advice on such issues as Health and Safety compliance, energy management, building services;
  • Responsible for ensuring that the organisation’s estate complies with all legislative requirements;
  • Act as the organisation’s specialist for all engineering and maintenance matters giving professional advice on such issues as Health and Safety compliance, energy management, building services;
  • Produce and implement estates policies related to the operational management of the estate;
  • Manage the backlog maintenance capital programme ensuring projects are prioritised in line with safety and needs and ensuring all programmes come within set budgets;
  • Responsible for the development of a robust system to monitor developments in compliance issues and ensure that regular updates are provided to the team such that the service remains current and up to date.
A successful candidate will have:
  • High degree of specialised knowledge in the Engineering, Facilities and project management fields;
  • Previous experience in a management capacity in the NHS or any other large public sector organisation;
  • Qualified to degree level, preferably with postgraduate qualification or post qualification training and experience to masters level in management or related disciplines;
  • Chartered Engineer through membership of an appropriate professional body (eg CIBSE, I.Mech. E, IEE, C.Eng.);
  • Experience across a range of areas relating to the management of Estates and Facilities in a multisite environment such as; Building Services, Estates H+S and Compliance issues, Management of building and engineering maintenance, Waste management, Energy Management, Environmental Issues, Asset Management, Decontamination, Control of Infection in built environment, Security Systems – CCTV, Fire Alarm Systems, ERIC, CAD;
  • Experience in the development of policy, procedures and business cases;
  • Experience of working as part of a management team;
  • Ability to think creatively and laterally and to identify solutions to complex problems.
