Job Details

United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust
Divisional Nurse Lead – Medicine
AfC - Band 8d

Lincolnshire is the second largest county in the UK and is characterised by a dispersed population in towns, in the city of Lincoln and largely rural communities. United Lincolnshire Hospitals Trust (ULHT) serves one of the largest geographical areas in England with a population of c750,000. With an annual income of c£540 million, we provide acute and specialist clinical services to people in Lincolnshire and neighbouring counties.

They provide these services from their three acute hospitals in Lincolnshire with a bed stock, excluding obstetrics, of 974 beds. The Trust provides a broad range of clinical services including community services, population-screening services, and a comprehensive range of planned and unscheduled secondary care services. They also provide a wide variety of outpatient, day case and inpatient services from a range of other community hospitals, operated by Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust or local GP clusters.

Over recent years they have seen significant change at ULHT. This has included the appointment of a new Chief Executive, and the subsequent development of a new integrated improvement plan to take the organisation forward. They have also implemented their new Trust Operating Model (TOM) management structure, which has seen them restructure and bring in new senior management capability to lead their services and standardise practice across all of their sites and services.

The COVID-19 pandemic has shown ULHT more than ever the crucial importance of strong clinical leadership, to ensure their teams are continually supported to provide the safest, most compassionate care. As we now return to ‘closer’ to normal, ULTH know that the restoration of services for their patients is paramount. Achieving both of these goals is the overwhelming mission of the NHS as we face a post-pandemic future, and ULHT are no different.

It is to this exciting but challenging backdrop that they now seek to appoint a Divisional Nurse Lead for their Medicine Directorate. The post holder will be a key member of the Divisional senior leadership team reporting to the Divisional Clinical Director with professional support from the Director of Nursing and corporate team.

The Divisional Nurse will support the Divisional Clinical Director in providing high-level operational and strategic business planning and leadership to ensure that the Division provides high quality patient care and achieves its performance objectives. This will include ensuring high quality patient care, patient safety, clinical quality and governance, the delivery of agreed performance and financial objectives, and ensuring that the Division operates with the needs of patients as its highest priority.

If you share ULHT’s values and aspirations, then we look forward to receiving your application and to meeting with you in due course.
