These are exciting times to be working in public health in Oxfordshire. With a new vision and the joining up of health and infrastructure through our ambitious healthy place shaping strategy, Oxfordshire has a great opportunity - with two healthy new towns - to explore how we build communities that encourage and support healthy lifestyles.
We have huge ambitions for the health and wellbeing of our population as evidenced by the launch of the Oxfordshire Tobacco Control Strategy, which aims to reduce the overall prevalence of smoking in Oxfordshire to below 5% by 2025. In doing so, we will achieve our vision to inspire the first smoke free generation in Oxfordshire.
We are now looking for an inspiring individual to help us deliver our exciting plans. As Deputy Director of Public Health, you will be helping our successful and ambitious council to meet the challenges associated with the Covid 19 pandemic, whilst delivering our vision for a healthy Oxfordshire, reducing inequalities in health outcomes, preventing avoidable ill-health and protecting local communities from public health hazards.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious Deputy Director of Public Health to help drive this ambitious agenda and make a real impact on the quality of life of our population for generations to come.
Reporting to our Corporate Director of Public Health, Ansaf Azhar, who in turn reports to our Chief Executive, this broad, exciting and innovative role sits at the corporate heart of the Council and will offer an ambitious Public Health professional the opportunity to make a real impact. We are seeking to appoint a visionary and motivational system- leader, with a proven track record of public health success as a Public Health Consultant and extensive experience of partnership working.
Strong partnership working experience, both internally and externally, is essential, coupled with excellent leadership skills and the required specialist public health registration with GMC, GDC or UK PHR
