Job Details

Thank you for showing an interest in joining our Trust board as Executive Director of Finance. This is a key role within CFT, following the appointment of Debbie Richards as our new Chief Executive and the imminent appointment of our next Chair. As part of this newly forming leadership team, you will have an opportunity to redefine our purpose and change the way we do things, working with our ICS partners to evolve and improve in a post-Covid world.

CFT provides NHS community, mental health, dementia and learning disability services to approximately 450,000 adults and children living in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. Most of our services are based in local communities, enabling care to be provided as close as possible to where people live. Our clinical services are organised into localities. Our quality achievements are underpinned by a strong track record of successful service and financial delivery. We have wonderful staff whose drive and commitment is outstanding and unfailing during the most difficult circumstances.

The COVID-19 pandemic has shown us more than ever the crucial importance of leadership for staff wellbeing, to ensure our teams are continually supported to provide the safest, most compassionate care. As we now return to ‘closer’ to normal, we know that the restoration of services for our patients is paramount. Achieving both of these goals is the overwhelming mission of the NHS as we face a post-pandemic future, and we here at CFT are no different.

Looking to the future we recognise the need for closer working and greater integration of health and care services, in order to provide the very best outcomes for our population. Cornwall is a wonderful place to live and work. It covers over 3,500 square kilometres of beautiful countryside, coastlines, villages, towns and cities. We have a population of more than 545,000. As beautiful as Cornwall is, we face significant challenges: 140,000 of us live with long term conditions, 25% of us are over 65 and the disparity in health outcomes is widening. These challenges provide exciting opportunities for new ways of working to deliver excellent care.

It is to this complex but exciting backdrop that we now seek to appoint our next Executive Director of Finance. We are looking for an exceptional individual who will provide expert, inspirational and professional leadership to our dedicated colleagues, who serve our community.

As our Executive Director of Finance, you will be integral in helping us address all of these agendas, and more. As part of our leadership team, you will champion our values both internally and externally, performing an influential role within the system and enabling true partnership working with our ICS colleagues.

If you share our values and aspirations, then we look forward to receiving your application and to meeting with you in due course.
