About Us

NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) is a Special Health Authority dedicated to saving and improving lives. We are an essential part of the NHS and provide a wide range of services that make the most of absolutely every donation – from blood and organs to tissues and stem cells. Few organisations have the ability to reach so many, and we aim to deliver the best possible service to the thousands of patients and donors we work with, directly and through the wider NHS. Our remit is broad, including diagnostic and therapeutic services, organ donation & transplantation, and blood supply. In order to deliver these services with the highest level of safety, reliability and efficiency, our operations are world class, and we work closely with a wide range of stakeholders including government, volunteers, the health sector and academia.

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to bring your professional skills to a highly respected organisation and contribute to the fantastic things that we do every day.

We are looking for four Programme Leads for the Organ Utilisation Programme.  You will be responsible for designing and implementing complex strategies and implementing next-generation technologies and digital tools that will empower clinical decision makers.

The workstream leads that we are recruiting for currently are:

  • ●             Novel Technology & Innovation
  • ●             Education & Culture
  • ●             Clinical Leadership & Engagement
  • ●             Data & Insight

Together with members of the Organ Utilisation Programme, and with a passionate and diverse group of NHSBT colleagues and stakeholders, you will help us deliver a “revolution in Organ Utilisation”, bringing tangible benefits and an enduring legacy to patients and transplant services in the UK.

You will be responsible for providing expert direction to project teams, shaping and prioritising the changes required and ensuring that benefits are aligned to the program objectives, while delivering multiple projects end-to-end, from conception through to transition and business as usual.

You will play a vital role in the delivery of this strategy, overseeing and leading a large programme of activity within the Organ Utilisation Programme. Projects under your leadership will include designing and implementing changes of national significance to the future of organ donation and transplantation, that will also attract political interest, deliver against Government manifesto comments and gain international attention. You may therefore also be required to liaise with Ministers, providing verbal and/ or written briefing on progress and drafting submissions for Ministerial approval.
