East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust
Chief Executive
Salary: Competitive
This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and successful healthcare leader to join us on a journey to drive improvement and change at one of the largest hospital trusts in England. We have nearly 9000 staff working across five hospitals as well as a range of community clinics serving a local population of 695,000. We have a reputation for delivering high quality specialist care, particularly in urology, kidney disease and vascular services, providing these to communities across the south east. We have a new medical school at Canterbury and have plans to modernise and transform our services and infrastructure.
We have much to be proud of, but there is also much to do. The challenges presented by the current pandemic, requirements to improve standards of care and our ageing infrastructure cannot and should not be ignored. As a Trust we do not underestimate the challenges we face, but we do so with ambition and a single minded determination and commitment to improve the health and wellbeing of the communities we serve and the experiences of our staff and our patients.
We believe in clinical leadership – it should be at the heart of everything we do. As such we are determined to build on what has already been achieved to develop and transform all our services. We have a comprehensive quality improvement programme which is being rolled out across the Trust as well as new facilities coming on stream such as the expansion of our emergency departments, a new Orthopaedic Surgery Centre, a new Critical Care Unit and a planned Hyper Acute Stroke Unit.
We recognise this will be a challenging role. We are looking for an inspiring and strong leader who can help us achieve “Good” or “Outstanding” CQC ratings across the Trust over the next three years. The successful candidate will be passionate about empowering staff to deliver outstanding care, with experience of working with staff to drive quality improvement. This will be an experienced and dynamic leader who is great at developing partnerships and understands the need to create integrated services that meet patient needs.
If you can see yourself sharing our ambition and our commitment to transform all our services, we would love to hear from you. Please get in touch with Melanie Shearer, Serena Dobson or Jim Canning of GatenbySanderson on 07384 113 158 for an informal and confidential discussion, and we look forward to meeting you soon.
