Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

Chief People Officer

Attractive Salary; North West

Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (WUTH) has an income of over £400 million and more than 6,500 employees.  We are the largest employer in Wirral and provide a full range of acute healthcare services across the peninsula.  Our vision is that ‘together we will deliver the best quality and safest care to the communities we serve.’  We deliver this through pathways of care enabled by innovation and leading-edge technology.  Central to our strategic development is the transformation and integration of services locally within the Healthy Wirral Partnership and our collaborative role within the Cheshire & Merseyside Health & Care Partnership.  Over the last two years we have built a strong leadership team; establishing an empowering culture across our workforce with caring, respect, teamwork, and improvement at the heart.

As we continue to make significant progress in our ambitious improvement journey and implement our 2021-26 Strategy: 'Improving the health of the communities we serve', we are seeking a new Chief People Officer to join our Board.  Our Chief People Officer will have overall responsibility for the development and delivery of strategies on workforce transformation, planning and redesign, professional education, and organisational development. Central to embedding our continuous improvement culture and supporting the wellbeing of our staff as we recover and reset following the pandemic; our Chief People Officer will lead a broad portfolio including core people services, organisational development and our communications and engagement functions.  This is a critical time for people services at WUTH as we commit significant additional financial investment to equip the team with the right resource to partner internally with our clinical teams and work with stakeholders across the system to develop future workforce solutions.

We are seeking a visible, compassionate, and resilient leader, with significant exposure at Board level in a complex people-centred, public service environment and with a track record of delivering transformational change in people services.  You will be experienced in leading improvement in staff engagement and delivering responsive and innovative people services that support the workforce to deliver and develop their full potential.  With a progressive approach, you will be a collaborative organisational and system leader able to quickly build trust with our staff and partners; working with them to deliver innovative workforce plans. This is an exceptional opportunity to make your mark in a supportive and ambitious team with shared values, a passion for providing high quality care to our patients and for creating a developmental and supportive environment for our workforce.

We have also achieved the Merseyside In Touch Navajo accreditation which shows our support and commitment to our LGBT+ staff and community.
