A large healthcare organisation is looking to appoint a Head of Clinical Site Operations on an interim basis, for 6 months initially. Lead the operational day to day flow of patients through emergency and elective pathways, ensuring safety and capacity is utilised appropriately.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Provide visible proactive leadership to the site operations centre, complex discharge team and transport team, acting as the key senior lead for issues, challenges, and escalation;
  • Lead on the coordination of activity across operational divisions to make risk-based decisions on approaches to managing capacity and flow and balancing issues and decisions across multiple sites;
  • Responsible for ensuring the efficient running of the site and bed management team, delivering key quality, performance and financial plans;
  • Lead on corporate activities in support of maintaining capacity and flow across operational divisions, including but not limited to running the organisations winter response; escalation and capacity incident management as required;
  • Achieve key service improvements within the team and line management of designated staff;
  • Act as the organisations representative in system wide approaches to managing capacity and flow including involvement in escalation calls and routine resilience forums;
  • Manage the performance of functions within responsibility against agreed national and local key performance indicators.
A successful candidate will have:
  • Current clinical registration with NMC is essential;
  • Experience of developing and implementing service developments;
  • Understanding of national urgent and emergency care strategies, policies and best practice;
  • Understanding of clinical pathway redesign, pathway improvements;
  • Knowledge of constitutional standards and regulatory expectations relevant to the breadth of the role;
  • Proven track record of consistently achieving challenging healthcare targets.
