Job Details

A leading NHS Acute Trust are seeking to appoint an interim Executive Financial Consultant, to provide strategic direction and operational delivery on all finance matters for a wholly owned subsidiary company.

Main responsibilities:
  • Set clear standards and ensure adherence on corporate fiscal responsibility and accountability for all staff, ensuring these meet statutory, regulatory compliance and standards, as well as the specific requirements of the organisation and in the future other customers/partners;
  • Provide a clear framework on the financial aspects of corporate governance, policy development, risk management and strategic development;
  • Oversight of the management of the general ledger, bank account, VAT account, corporation tax, cost centres and subjective codes, and payroll provider;
  • Support the Financial Controller by providing all of the information needed by the organisation to enable it to monitor the performance of its subsidiary, and to enable the organisation to produce Group reports;
  • Establish, maintain and develop key financial controls, structures, processes and communications, including a capital programme and business plan, ensuring relevant financial controls are suitably designed, consistently applied and operating effectively for the new company;
  • Ensure Annual Business Planning and Budget Setting for Medical Device Management / Decontamination/ Supply Chain Services (equipment maintenance / purchasing /leasing/ pay / non-pay budgets) including the capital plan;
  • Prepare Monthly Management Accounts to the highest professional standards;
  • Lead the development of a long term financial strategy;
  • Ensure the development of an annual financial plan and budget for the organisation and other clients with clearly delineated, auditable budgets and financial performance measures.
Key Skills/Experience:
  • Expert specialist knowledge of financial and accounting procedures including current legislation and NHS accounting policies;
  • Professional CCAB accountancy qualification;
  • Significant experience at a senior management role in a large complex organisation;
  • Up to date with the NHS policy, national directives and all governance aspects but with a specific emphasis on NHS Finance.
