NHS Glasgow Greater Glasgow and Clyde is the largest health organisation in Scotland providing a range of primary, community based ,acute and mental health services to a diverse population of 1.2 million in six local authority areas. We are looking for a highly motivated, transformational and visionary leader with the strategic and professional skills, drive and passion to take forward this agenda.
The Director of Public Health is an Executive Director of the Board and is the chief source of public health leadership and advice to the Board and the surrounding Local Authorities, supporting the work of our six Health and Social Care Partnerships and their Integration Joint Boards in assessing and improving health.
You will also have a key role to play in forging relationships and working collaboratively with local community planning partnerships and other local agencies to ensure the widest participation in the public health and wellbeing agenda. This demands a high level of political awareness and the personal credibility to quickly gain respect and influence change across multiple sectors.
As well as leading the Public Health Directorate, a significant part of the role will also involve driving the Board’s ongoing response to, and recovery from, the current Covid-19 pandemic, with leadership of our Test and Protect and Vaccination services.
To be a success, you will have extensive public health experience and a proven track record of accomplishment operating at a senior level within the NHS and partnership settings or an equivalent large complex environment. Beyond your public health leadership and professional advice you must be able to contribute across the entirety of the corporate leadership agenda and strategic objectives of the Board.
This appointment can be made on a medical or non-medical basis.
