Job Details

Woodrow Mercer Healthcare are looking for a Deputy Director of Strategy to work for an NHS Trust located in the East Midlands.

The postholder will report to the Director of Strategy and will assist in the lead / overseeing of the delivery of the Trust’s strategy and business planning processes.

Key responsibilities will include:
 

  • Develop and implement the Trust’s policies and approaches relating to strategy and business planning across the organisation.
  • Deliver strategic changes to help shape and drive the Trust’s ambitious agenda
  • Ensure an effective system for in-year monitoring, management and reporting of progress against the Trust’s strategies.
  • Manage the development and implementation of new strategic objectives.
  • Manage the activity and performance of the strategy function including the team and individuals within the team.
  • Manage budgets to meet the Trust’s strategic and operational business.
  • Ensure all areas of responsibility are delivered in a way that are consistent with the Trust’s financial plans and cost improvement plans.
  • Build / develop effective partnerships and joint working with key stakeholders, internal and external, influencing and negotiating on behalf of the organisation.

 

 

The ideal candidate will have:
 

  • Experience within NHS leadership and delivery of Trust’s Strategies.
  • Masters level qualification in relevant subject area, or equivalent professional qualification/ experience.
  • Sound knowledge of national NHS policy and strategy.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to motivate teams and gain consensus at all levels within the organisation.
  • Extensive experience, expertise and understanding of developing, implementing and managing complex strategies.
  • Knowledge of national performance targets and processes.
  • Experience of analysing the business environment and of developing strategies to meet changing organisational needs.
  • Experience of managing and developing teams.
  • Ability to form sound judgements in situations or on matters that require strong analytical skills and often involve conflicting evidence or advice.
  • Ability to plan, organise and prioritise own and others workload in order to achieve deadlines.

The role is on a Contract basis for an initial 12 month period:

  • Start date - asap
  • Hours/Days pw – Full time
  • Rate: Band 8d
  • Any unsocial hours required? – No
  • Location – Midlands, on-site
