An exciting opportunity has arisen, supporting a large Healthcare organisation as a Deputy Director of Quality Governance.

This post will be working in the North West, on a permanent basis at a band 8B level.

The post holder will have overall operational responsibility for aspects of Quality Governance including, Effectiveness, Assurance, and Research. Providing Strategic direction in respect of these areas.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Ensure quality governance systems and processes are embedded across the organisation to ensure effective, compassionate patient care is delivered, improved, and maintained;
  • Lead the newly established quality governance team, and support the Director to ensure delivery of safe and effective services to hospitals through a clear quality governance framework;
  • Contribute from both a clinical and a leadership viewpoint into the strategic thinking and decision-making processes of the Divisional and Corporate senior managers;
  • Hold accountability for the delivery of performance targets, as well as service and system development of the Clinical and Product Assurance function;
  • Ensure that a consistent and effective Governance Framework is implemented and report on all aspects of the framework, identifying key themes and trends in order that the Board is provided with Robust Assurance and is able to take effective action where required as well as be able to identify Best Practice at work within the organisation;
  • Develop, in conjunction with the Director of Quality Governance, Medical Director, and Director of Nursing, a strategic framework to maximise participation in meaningful research aligned to improving service quality and improving knowledge, uptake, and implementation of evidence-based practice to enhance service quality;
  • Provide timely and accurate reports to the Board on organisation’s performance, including significant contribution to reports relating to Integrated governance including quality standards, patient safety, risk, patient experience, complaints, concerns, and compliments also on production of Quality Accounts;
  • Manage the team, including appoints, appraisals and disciplinary matters;
  • Work with patients and their representatives to continuously improve patient experience and ensure robust feedback methods are in place to learn from mistakes.
A successful candidate will have:
  • A master’s level degree or equivalent level of experience;
  • Evidence of continued professional development ;
  • Proven experience of senior management and leadership in a Healthcare setting;
  • Excellent understanding and knowledge of current NHS agenda and national policy;
  • Extensive and well-developed knowledge of strategy and policy development impacting on improving outcomes, and learning from experience;
  • Evidence of significant understanding of Quality Assurance and the NHS regulatory regime, particularly in relation to patient safety and risk management.
