A new opportunity has arisen to work for a large NHS organisation in the South East of England who are seeking to appoint a Deputy Chief Nurse for 6 months.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Accountable for leading, directing and supporting the organisations objectives of delivery of high quality patient care through the development and education of a professional nursing workforce;
  • Supporting the Chief Nurse to ensure professional leadership and oversight to the quality governance agenda and the relevant teams which support it;
  • Lead the continued professional development of effective, patient centred clinical practice across the Trust;
  • Lead the Trust’s approach to safe staffing through the establishment of robust systems and processes that ensure sufficient nursing capacity and capability is in place so that high quality care to patients is provided;
  • Represent the Trust locally and nationally, and deputising for the Chief Nursing Officer when required;
  • Accountable for the development, leadership and implementation of the Trust’s Nursing Strategy;
  • Provide the leadership for the Patient Safety, complaints, and risk management services;
  • Provide high profile leadership and directions to the nursing workforce to implement evidence based nursing practice and deliver measurable excellence in nursing care across all service.

A successful candidate will have:
  • Current NMC registration with active pin;
  • Senior experience at Associate or Deputy Director of Nursing level in a complex mental health setting;
  • Successful delivery of organisational change;
  • Significant experience of producing strategy documents and board reports;
  • Able to think and plan strategically, tactically and creatively and gain agreement to relevant plans and to implement plans through service delivery
  • Experience of working in an Mental Health Trust;
