Job Details

A large NHS Trust in the South East are seeking to appoint an Interim Associate Director of Medical Workforce, to lead on medical workforce matters and provide strategic business focused advice to Clinical Directors, the Chief Medical Officer and other senior leaders.

Main responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic oversight of the application of the 2016 Doctors and Dentists in Training contract, ensuring that processes are in place to issue accurate contracts to the relevant staff group in line with best practice and good governance;
  • Research and analyse local and national medical talent acquisition practices and trends, drawing appropriate conclusions and using this knowledge to develop medical resourcing policy and plans for the Trust;
  • Develop credible and influential professional relationships with medical and non-medical service leaders, demonstrating a real understanding of services and the significant resourcing challenges that they face;
  • Work with medical leaders, Medical Workforce Manager, HR Business Partners and others to develop strategic initiatives to fill hard to recruit medical roles drawing on a range of options including contract type and source market;
  • Working closely with the Deputy Chief People Officer – People & Systems, lead on medical workforce planning, providing technical advice and management;
  • Work with colleagues to ensure that medical workforce planning is incorporated with wider Trust workforce planning processes.
Key Skills/Experience:
  • Educated to masters degree level or equivalent professional experience;
  • Significant experience of delivering resourcing strategies/initiatives within a hospital setting;
  • Experience of taking overall corporate responsibility for medical HR;
  • Demonstrable experience of supporting senior clinical leaders to identify, and deliver resourcing plans for operationally critical roles.
