Job Details

A new opportunity has arisen to work for a large NHS organisation in the South East who are seeking to appoint a Matron for their surgery division for 3 months initially.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Accountable for the efficient and effective operational management of the nursing workforce, guaranteeing provision of high-quality evidence based nursing practice which will be delivered within theatres;
  • Provide strong clinical leadership and be highly visible and accessible to patients, carers and staff;
  • To support the developments of Clinical Governance and Service Improvement, to modernise patient services and ensure the active involvement of patients and carers in the way services are developed, delivered and evaluated;
  • Provide line management as required within designated area;
  • Act as a source of expert advice and support on nursing clinical and professional issues within the Directorate;
  • Maintain personal contact with patients, relatives and carers being sensitive to their needs for respect, safety, privacy and dignity and act as a senior point of contact;
  • Ensure the appraisal process for staff is undertaken and that training and development needs are appropriately identified and addressed to support service delivery and development.

A successful candidate will have:
  • Current NMC registration with active pin;
  • Experience having worked within Acute;
  • Experience working as a Senior Ward Sister/ Charge Nurse;
  • Awareness of the NHS Agenda, national directives and all governance aspects of Health care;
  • Experience of working to and delivering quality metrics & outcome measures;
  • A good understanding of the changing NHS environment.
