3 years FTC available immediately

Enjoying unique lifestyle opportunities, St Helena Island is a self-governing overseas territory of the United Kingdom. Although better placed to develop economically and socially as a result of opening our international airport in 2017, we are not at the stage of self-sufficiency and therefore remain dependent on UK government aid. The 28-bed General Hospital in the capital, Jamestown, covers all areas of acute medical and surgical care.

Could you own the delivery of care to our patients, championing and driving innovation across the allied health professionals, leading AHP services within the hospital and community?

You will offer leadership and professional guidance for AHPs, taking colleagues through a process to transform delivery of care. You will inspire a motivated workforce and develop innovative patient care, giving AHPs clear strategic direction. As you help lead a workforce development plan to meet the changing needs of service models both within the organisation and in response to local healthcare needs, you will be accountable for high quality clinical standards, a strong patient safety focus and exceptional patient experience within AHP Services, fostering a culture of openness. With budget responsibility, you will identify and advise on priorities, challenges, risks and improvement strategies across all aspects of Allied Health while nurturing strong relationships with all health and social care staff.

Professionally qualified in one of the allied health professions to degree or masters level, you must be a currently HCPC registered AHP with ALS certification or willing to undertake ALS training. Conversant with professional issues and changing trends you have conducted audit-based reviews and have written and implemented policy and strategy, showing strong leadership and inspiring others. Having managed at senior level with high performing teams, you are familiar with analysing and interpreting information to develop solutions or solve problems and with change management.

In addition, you must demonstrate our core values of fairness, integrity and teamwork and use your diverse expertise and experiences to ensure your time on the Island has the broadest benefit to St Helena.  As an officer funded through the Technical Co-Operation Programme you will be expected to share your knowledge and skills beyond the workplace contributing to workforce, community and capacity development in St Helena.
