We are looking for a Chief Executive to provide exceptional leadership and direction for our Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) on the Isle of Man.

What is the Isle of Man’s DHSC responsible for?
Health and Social Care services on the Island are currently going through an exciting period of change. The DHSC was redesigned on 1 April 2021 as a direct result of Sir Jonathan Michael’s Independent Review of the Isle of Manx Health and Care System. The redesigned DHSC ensures the separation between the setting of policy and strategy and the delivery of services by a new body called Manx Care.
Improving services isn’t enough in itself. Behind it we need a structure of good governance, clarity on what we will deliver by when, how we will deliver these goals and assurance that the right oversight and reporting is in place. The relationship between DHSC and Manx Care is designed to achieve that. DHSC has set out its strategy and annual priorities within the Mandate to Manx Care. DHSC will hold Manx Care accountable for the delivery of services, the outcomes, and any directed efficiencies.
DHSC shall strategically commission, through this Mandate, health and social care services from Manx Care and it shall assure Manx Care’s performance in delivering such services.

Who are we looking for?
Excellent leadership, motivational and interpersonal skills will be vital to enable you to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders in order to successfully lead the Department and provide support for the Minister and Members.
We want to continue to develop a culture of collaboration and partnership working, where all of our staff feel listened to, supported, valued, and where they feel empowered to be involved. We are looking for someone with experience as a visible and inspirational senior leader in a complex organisation, within the health or social care sector, to provide direction, inspire our staff and help drive the Department forward and enable us to achieve our ambitions.
To succeed in this role, you will need experience of operating at a strategic level, leading teams and managing people from a range of different disciplines and have a detailed understanding of the health and care landscape.
