An exciting opportunity has arisen, supporting a large Healthcare organisation as a Head of Governance - Maternity Services.

The post will be working in the North West, on an interim basis for 3+ months with an hourly rate of £41.13 working inside IR35 (through an umbrella solution).

To lead on Clinical Governance in relation to Maternity Services, exploring complex issues and make informed decisions related to Risk, Serious incidents and Quality Assurance.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Implement strategies by liaising with all members of the multidisciplinary teams, working towards high standards of care and creating a safe environment in which excellence in clinical care and quality improvement will flourish across the Division;
  • Manage the Directorate risk register, leading the Divisional risk management agenda;
  • Lead on critical/ serious incident reporting processes, ensuring that robust mechanisms are in place within the Division and externally;
  • Present highly complex, sensitive information to large groups in highly charged situations;
  • Attend and participate fully at meetings and present information, which is frequently highly contentious, complex, and sensitive;
  • Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with key Governance and Quality improvement staff;
  • Identify, manage, and reduce hazards in the Division and ensure that staff under their direction adhere to all safe systems of work applicable;
  • Establish and monitor systems to ensure staff in the Division are up to date with policies, procedures, and statutory training;
  • Deliver the organisation’s governance agenda, both clinical and non-clinical, participating in assessment and action planning;
  • Lead and coordinate Risk Management activities in the division and be responsible for the development and implementation of risk management strategy at a local level, taking the lead on developing appropriate policy documents;
  • Act as an integral professional manager and Governance, quality, and risk expert, as part of the Divisional Senior Management Team.
A successful candidate will have:
  • Must have experience within the NHS/a healthcare setting working at a senior level;
  • Expertise in Risk Management, Quality and Incident Investigating;
  • Well-developed analytical & problem-solving skills with the ability to make decisions by determining key points from highly complex data comprising multiple information strands;
  • Sound management and leadership skills and principles;
  • Presentation skills to a highly developed level to present highly complex data, reports, findings and provide assurance to the Board.
