An exciting opportunity has arisen, supporting a large NHS organisation as a Commissioning Manager MH & CYP.

The post holder will be working fully remotely on an interim basis for 6 months, at a Band 8a. The post holder will support the business in driving transformation as well as value for money in planning, commissioning, and service.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Build a combination of subject matter expertise and technical skills to develop a strong service delivery;
  • Commission services, including joint commissioning, and other operational areas of working in association with other key individuals;
  • Work with system partners as well as contracting, finance and intelligence teams with the CCG and ICS support areas;
  • Support the Head of Mental Health and Children’s Acute Care on strategic development and leadership of NHS Long Term Plan Delivery;
  • Understand the use of Mental Health and children’s services both internally and externally, and support the System's assurance of appropriately commissioned services, including those delivered external to the STP footprint;
  • Lead on aspects of the organisation’s Joined Up Care Long Term Plan agenda, including identification of new projects and opportunities for transformation and QIPP;
  • Contribute to delivery of operational plans to ensure that the costs of services are value for money and ensure that as far as possible and appropriate, individuals remain in the locality, or return to their community as soon as possible and clinically appropriate, with any necessary support to secure robust improvements in their health;
  • Attend and support all relevant STP workstreams, aligning governance and assurance process to organisation wide strategy;
  • Support in developing reports and analysis for monitoring and development of new opportunities and existing QIPP schemes;
  • Chair relevant workstream meetings;
  • Conduct 'account management’ of projects to deliver matrix working across the system, support Head of MH & Children’s Acute Care in resourcing and structuring projects accordingly;
  • Engender matrix working across the team and with other teams within the System;
  • Work across the directorate portfolio where appropriate to align workloads of the team and ensure key projects are prioritised;
  • Act as the budget holder for assigned function/team, and set budgets with the Head of Department;
  • Responsible for proposing and drafting changes, implementation and interpretation to policies, guidelines, and service level agreements (SLA’s) which may impact service;
  • Plan, develop and evaluate methods and processes for gathering, analysing, interpreting, and presenting data and information.
A successful candidate will have:
  • Must understand the background to and aims of current healthcare policy and appreciate the implications of this on engagement;
  • An appreciation of the relationship between the Department of Health, NHS England and individual provider and commissioning organisations;
  • Experience of project principles techniques & tools, such as Prince 2 & Managing Successful Projects;
  • Significant experience of managing & motivating a team and reviewing performance of the individuals.
