An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Deputy Director of Learning and OD within a South East NHS organisation. The successful candidate will be a key member of the HR lead team and will be instrumental in the development and the deployment of the organisation's people strategies.

Main responsibilities:
  • Provide a comprehensive HR service and input into the development and delivery of the organisation's workforce strategy, business plan, Care Quality Commission standards and other HR related governance and compliance requirements;
  • Ensure that workforce education, development, workforce planning and engagement/well-being services are ‘fit for purpose’, efficient and are fully aligned with and complementary to the operational services of the organisation;
  • Ensure that the HR education, training and development services are lean, customer and business focused and performance managed to achieve highest performance for lowest possible costs, without compromising quality or standards;
  • Direct line responsibility for: Learning & Development, Education and Training, Organisational Development;
  • Develop and nurture a culture of continuous improvement and excellence in HR service delivery that ensures we always get the basics right;
  • To ensure long terms plans that support workforce development including 3-5 year plans supporting non-clinical and leadership development;
  • Develop career coaching models that support our workforce transformation plans as well as our Talent Management Strategy;
  • Lead Medical Education, non-medical education and management and leadership development;
  • To develop an education and training strategy that supports the culture of continuous learning and self-development for all staff, in partnership with educational partners;
  • Work with the Associate Medical Director of Medical Education to ensure the robust management of all under and post graduate medical education;
  • To work with educational partners to ensure the organisation’s strategic aims are achieved;
  • Lead and support positive cultural change and development within the organisation and support behaviours that enhance well-being, staff development and inclusion;
  • Lead, develop and implement organisational development initiatives to support innovation, delivery of high quality services, productivity and delivers the highest standard of patient care;
  • Lead on identification of and provision of OD support to agreed Divisions and ensure agreed interventions are delivered to help achieve the desired changes to support the division, workforce and organisation strategies.
Key Skills/Experience:
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience;
  • Master’s degree or equivalent experience;
  • CIPD Membership;
  • Expert knowledge of NHS terms and conditions and best practice approaches;
  • Knowledge of employment law including equality and diversity.
