Job Details

We are excited to be supporting an NHS organisation with above post, the role is remote working and can be looked at on a part time basis.

A senior post within the organisation, reporting to the Chief Nurse, lead the provision of a high quality, safe, effective, and professional Safeguarding Children’s function capable of meeting all statutory, regulatory and NHS requirements for the organisation.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Manage the safeguarding children function, including developing and managing the annual work plan, progress and dashboard reporting, risk, and issue management;
  • Designing and delivering appropriate safeguarding children assurance and governance systems within allocated area and the local health system;
  • Working with local Councils and other partners through local Safeguarding Children Partnerships to ensure children in the borough grow up in a safe and healthy environment;
  • Ensure the CCGs follow Working Together to safeguard children guidance and fulfils Section 11 of the Children Act 2004 requirements;
  • Responsible for regular performance reporting, annual reports, and exception reports through agreed committee structures;
  • Ensure that the Governing Body and staff of the CCG receive appropriate training and supervision, where appropriate, in child safeguarding;
  • Work with and support Directors, Clinical Leads, project leads, commissioners, NHS England and colleagues in other CCGs and providers;
  • Commit to working and engaging constructively with internal and external stakeholders on a range of contentious issues;
  • Responsible for supporting the commissioning of projects and procurement of services to support project delivery;
  • Responsible for developing policy and procedure in the area the job holder is currently working on at a point in time, including briefings, commissioning, business, or resources.

The ideal candidate will have:
  • Registered clinical professional and member of relevant professional body;
  • Evidence of continuing professional development post qualifying;
  • Experience in public speaking and presenting to a wide range of audiences;
  • Demonstrable experience of undertaking complex clinical investigations, risk management assessments and/or clinical governance;
  • Able to work on own initiative with ability to prioritise, problem solve and manage own workload effectively.
