Job Details
A senior post within the organisation, reporting to the Chief Nurse, lead the provision of a high quality, safe, effective, and professional Safeguarding Children’s function capable of meeting all statutory, regulatory and NHS requirements for the organisation.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Manage the safeguarding children function, including developing and managing the annual work plan, progress and dashboard reporting, risk, and issue management;
- Designing and delivering appropriate safeguarding children assurance and governance systems within allocated area and the local health system;
- Working with local Councils and other partners through local Safeguarding Children Partnerships to ensure children in the borough grow up in a safe and healthy environment;
- Ensure the CCGs follow Working Together to safeguard children guidance and fulfils Section 11 of the Children Act 2004 requirements;
- Responsible for regular performance reporting, annual reports, and exception reports through agreed committee structures;
- Ensure that the Governing Body and staff of the CCG receive appropriate training and supervision, where appropriate, in child safeguarding;
- Work with and support Directors, Clinical Leads, project leads, commissioners, NHS England and colleagues in other CCGs and providers;
- Commit to working and engaging constructively with internal and external stakeholders on a range of contentious issues;
- Responsible for supporting the commissioning of projects and procurement of services to support project delivery;
- Responsible for developing policy and procedure in the area the job holder is currently working on at a point in time, including briefings, commissioning, business, or resources.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Registered clinical professional and member of relevant professional body;
- Evidence of continuing professional development post qualifying;
- Experience in public speaking and presenting to a wide range of audiences;
- Demonstrable experience of undertaking complex clinical investigations, risk management assessments and/or clinical governance;
- Able to work on own initiative with ability to prioritise, problem solve and manage own workload effectively.
