Executive Medical Director

Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust

Derbyshire; attractive salary

Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust specialises in the provision of Mental Health, Substance Misuse, wider specialist services such as eating disorders, as well as Children’s Universal, Learning Disability and paediatric services across the county. We are a central partner in Derbyshire’s Integrated Care System ‘Joined up Care Derbyshire’ working to provide the best care and services as efficiently and effectively as possible.  Rated Good by the CQC and with the highest score nationally in like trusts in several domains of the staff survey, ‘People First’ is central to delivering our vision to make a positive difference in people’s lives through improving their health and well-being.  Regionally and nationally recognised for our innovative inclusion initiatives, we are committed to ensuring equality, diversity, inclusion, and human rights are central to the way we deliver outstanding healthcare services to our service users and how we support and empower our staff.

Following the planned retirement of our current postholder, we are seeking a values-led Medical Director to join our Executive team and report into our inspirational Chief Executive, Ifti Majid.  This is an exciting time as we play an increasingly significant role in Derby and Derbyshire Integrated Care System where our Chief Executive is the lead for the Provider Collaborative and more broadly across the East Midlands Mental Health, Learning Disability and Autism Alliance where we will commission for perinatal services across the wider region.  We are investing in the quality of our services including a once in a generation opportunity to improve our patient experience through the development of two new psychiatric hospitals.  Our new Medical Director will share corporate responsibility for further developing our aspirations as a culturally intelligent organisation as well as contributing to our future strategic direction.  With responsibility for ensuring our services meet essential standards of quality and safety, embedding a culture of continuous quality improvement and supporting our clinical workforce to deliver effective, safe and person-centred care you will also have responsibility for jointly developing our Quality Strategy with our Director of Nursing and Patient Experience.

We are keen to hear from inclusive clinical leaders working at or close to board level, with experience of leading, empowering and developing medical professionals and future leaders in the safe and effective delivery of diverse and complex healthcare services.  With a passion for mental health and learning disabilities services and for reducing stigma, you will share our values and our focus on cultural development.  Quickly building credibility across a wide range of stakeholders you will be comfortable with strategic decision making and progressive collaboration across organisational boundaries.  This is a unique opportunity to directly impact on reducing health inequalities and to join a Board who role model inclusion and will welcome diversity and difference in your background and experience.
