Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust

Chair

Attractive Remuneration for 2-3 days a week

Formally established in 2021, the Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust (NCA) is one of the largest and most respected NHS providers in England, employing around 20,000 staff and serving a diverse population of 1 million people across the North part of Greater Manchester. The NCA brings together the ‘outstanding’ rated Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust with Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust to create a trust that works in a group arrangement with Care Organisations in each of our localities - Salford, Oldham, Bury & Rochdale.

We have a clear focus on our ambitions and what we want to achieve. Over the next decade, it’s our ambition that NCA will become the safest and most effective organisation in the NHS. We are an organisation focused on the importance of place, where we can work to challenge inequalities and improve health in our communities.   We want it to be a place people all over the country will want to work.

Our long-term plan - Vision 10, combines years of listening, feedback and insight from our People, our Populations and our Partners across our health and care services and learning from NHS organisations beyond our own. At its heart is a real focus on place and how we work with our system partners to develop outstanding standards of care for our local population.

The Opportunity

We are now seeking a new Chair to help us build on our strong foundation and lead us to achieving our mission. This is a rare leadership opportunity and a role of significant scope and profile, one that has the chance to impact the lives of the hundreds of thousands of people we serve.

Our Chair will require outstanding leadership qualities, compassion, and a passion for the work of the Health and Social care sector. You will demonstrate a positive track record of inspiring organisations to excel in service delivery, be that in the health sector or a different environment.

As an experienced Chair or Non-Executive Director, you will understand the challenges of leading a large, complex public facing organisation. Skilled at working with executive teams with a focus on performance, quality and improvement, you will be politically astute and enjoy engaging and working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that NCA supports effectively the development of emerging Integrated Care Organisations across the wider conurbation, through a partnership model with other health and social care providers.

If you have this experience and a passion for improving the lives of patients, families and carers, across all our communities then we would be delighted to hear from you.

We want our Board to be as inclusive and diverse as possible, so will look for individuals who bring lived experience that equips them both for the leadership aspects of the role but also brings an understanding of some of the challenges of our local communities.

For more information about this exceptional opportunity, please click on Apply and speak to our advising consultants Helen Barkham, Julia St Clare or Emma Pickup on 07807 631 564.

Closing date for applications is 9am Monday 13 June and interviews will be held on Friday 15 July
