Interim Deputy Divisional Director of Operations

My client is looking to engage an experienced, seasoned operational leader, for six months, who can provide some stability to their division during a period of transition. This is an exciting opportunity for someone to use all their skills to really deliver an improvement to these services.

Since Covid like many Trusts my clients PTL has grown in size, and whilst on the ground they have a very good team managing this, the Trust is keen to maximise all opportunities to reduce this over the coming months.

The divisional portfolio under management will be comprised of the following directorates:

  • General Surgery (Colorectal, Upper and Lower Gastro, Bariatrics)
  • Ophthalmology
  • Specialist Surgery (H&N, ENT, OMFU)
  • Theatre, Anaesthetics, Crit Care, & Pain
  • Trauma & Orthopaedics

You must have NHS operational managerial experience in RTT performance management, cancer pathway performance management, and recent senior management experience.

The trust has a significant restoration and recovery journey ahead and some exciting plans for 22-23.

As the post is short-term, the candidates really need to have performed in a similar operational role previously so they can hit the ground running. The Divisional Director is keen to engage an interim who is a passionate leader that can work well with consultants, nursing, and medical teams to get things done. Specifically, to provide hands on leadership and management to the day to day running of the division.

Specifically, the client is looking for someone who can -

  • Provide visible leadership and stability to the division whilst they go through a period of change
  • Support the delivery of the RTT target
  • Continue to deliver the Cancer performance

Essential skills & experience:

  • NHS experienced operational leader
  • Experience in General Surgery
  • Strong RTT knowledge and experience
  • Understanding of and experience in managing PTL's
  • A clinical background would be an advantage
  • Proven track record of managing doctors' rotas
  • A passion for delivering excellent services
  • Strong people management and leadership skills
