An NHS Trust in the South East is seeking senior Operational Interim who is experienced at operating at an 8D/9 and above level to provide leadership to their children’s division. The division has expertise in their Service Managers to manage the day to day service and therefore candidates specific children’s division experience is not required, although would be welcomed.

The key requirement is for a candidate with a breadth of operational experience in an NHS Trust to provide leadership at a critical time for the service and work with the clinical teams to ensure the service is managed effectively through a period of transition. The role would suit a candidate with Divisional Director / Director of Ops experience.

Key general duties include:

• To lead and support the Core Management Team, ensuring that the team works effectively and efficiently with clear areas of responsibility. Developing a culture that supports both delivery and opportunity to succeed and flourish.
• Work closely with the leadership teams to ensure that the management structure within the Division is designed to provide strong leadership and effective management for all clinical and non-clinical staff.
• Implement clear accountability and performance management systems.
• Create a climate, which encourages teamwork, maximises individual contribution and stimulates innovation. Promote a culture of engagement across the Divisional structure that ensures openness and transparency.
• Ensure that all staff are managed within the Trust’s employment HR strategies and other initiatives.
• Oversee the effective recruitment, training and development of all staff within the Division.
• Actively promote a learning culture through the use of appraisal and personal development planning and ensuring all staff participate.
• Assess the implications of national initiatives affecting the workforce and to develop and implement action plans in conjunction with the leadership teams.
• Work with the leadership team to ensure that medical staffs are adequately supported and work in accordance with the Trust’s policies and procedures.
