We are working with an NHS Trust who are seeking to appoint an Interim Deputy Chief Operating Officer - Elective Care. This role will be for 6 months and is based on site with potential for some hybrid working with one day working from home per week.

This is an interim role that falls under the Workforce Alliance Framework and should be expected to be remunerated at a c£540 day rate dependant on experience.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Directly oversee and manage the daily operational management and clinical services, ensuring the delivery of high quality, safe and effective care;
  • Lead on Elective Care services including recovery and restoration across the Trust;
  • Take a lead on addressing day to day patient flow issues across the directorate;
  • Lead on all aspects of safe, effective and responsive operations, with a priority focus on achievement of key access and performance standards at all times;
  • Ensure that policies and procedures are developed and implemented for the successful delivery of operational services;
  • Establish, lead, maintain and develop effective working relationships with all professional groups working in the group management teams and across the wider Trust;
  • Deputise for the Chief Operating Officer, assuming overall responsibility for senior operational management of the organisation, during absence of the COO.
  • Establish and grow effective working relationships with other providers and commissioners to ensure that patients are provided with care in the most appropriate settings.

The ideal candidate will have:
  • Masters level qualification in relevant subject area, or equivalent professional qualification/ experience;
  • Credible and proven track record of leading across Elective and Planned Care within an NHS Provider;
  • Extensive experience of Acute NHS leadership and delivery at a senior operational level commensurate with the role;
  • Extensive experience, expertise and understanding of performance and change management, business planning, budget setting and contracting processes;
  • Experience of implementing complex strategies and realistic plans.
