Brilliant Care. Brilliant People. Brilliant Improvement.

At Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust (RCHT), our vision is Aspiring to Provide Brilliant Care to One + All, and these three key strategic goals are our plan for doing this.

People are our most valuable asset, and we know that we can only deliver Brilliant Care and Brilliant Improvement through them. Our new Chief People Officer will have a vital role to play in creating an environment and culture where Brilliant People can be developed and supported to ensure we are truly fit for the future.

As one of the largest employers in the county, it is an exciting time to join us as we begin our recovery from the pandemic and begin to develop the workforce of the future. We are continuing to reinvent ourselves as an organisation, embedding Quality Improvement at the heart of everything we do.

We want to change, transform and modernise, refocusing our efforts on delivering the right services, in the right locations, with the right workforce, to a brilliant standard, and our Chief People Officer will be a key part of that journey. The NHS and RCHT have changed tremendously over recent years, and this person will have an important role across the system shaping, designing and developing our workforce and culture of the future.

We are looking for someone who matches our ambition to provide Brilliant Care, but equally who will care for our Brilliant People. We want someone who has compassion at the heart of everything they do, and who wants to use that to help shape and grow our culture. The role offers the chance to not just shape this within the Trust, but to work and engage across the entire local health and care system, and we are looking for someone who will want to be a role model for our values every single day.

We aspire to be one of the country’s finest places to live and work. The last year has seen many people reflect on their priorities, this is an opportunity to change your lifestyle - choose a vibrant career with a progressive and innovative role in idyllic Cornwall, rich in culture, history and heritage. As one of the most rural counties in England, Cornwall has countryside a plenty and you can travel from some of our biggest towns to a remote village within minutes, from the surfing beaches of North Cornwall coast to the small fishing villages to the south. With hundreds of beaches on both the north and south coasts, there are plenty of places to relax with a book, take a dip in the sea or take your four-legged friend for a walk.

The 430,000 people who live across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly deserve Brilliant Care, and we want to talk to people who feel they can deliver Brilliant Improvement for our Brilliant Staff. If you feel this is you, then please contact Melanie Shearer on the number below, as we want to talk to you. We hope you see this as the opportunity we do, to shape and develop a modern people, workforce and OD strategy rooted in compassionate leadership, to truly enable us to deliver Brilliant Care to One + All.
