Walsall Council is offering you an exciting opportunity to join our newly restructured and progressive team, working agilely.   This is an opportunity to be part of a talented multi-disciplinary team, providing core public health expertise and assurance to the Council, health and care economy and partners across the Borough.  The teams’ work programme includes:

The portfolio for the Consultant in Public Health post will offer a stimulating mix of work with multidisciplinary teams across Walsall and The Black Country, supporting building the evidence about what works in new and existing interventions and innovations and how we can create communities and an economy that places wellness as the cultural norm.

We have strong working relationships with our local colleagues and we would encourage our new post holder to be closely involved in the future development of a broad range of established areas of local work, inequalities and other innovations.

 

  • You will be actively encouraged to develop your own areas of interest and utilise our excellent links locally, regionally and nationally. You will be able to demonstrate experience in building constructive relationships with senior colleagues in local authorities, the NHS and with other partners in complex environments. You will provide strategic public health leadership on different work programmes and be able to help transform public health outcomes for Walsall residents. You must be included on the GMC Specialist Register in Public Health or the UK Public Health Register for Public Health Specialists.

This post is subject to local authority conditions with NHS pension scheme available to those applicable.  We are happy to consider applications from those in the final stage of their Public Health training.

We are also an accredited training location for public health specialist trainees (medical and non-medical), as well as GPs and FY2 doctors, and receive positive feedback on their training and exposure to a wide range of public health initiatives.

*A decision has been taken to apply a Market Forces Supplement (MFS) of up to £15,000pa to this role, which would be paid on top of the normal salary for the grade of this point.  In-line with our Policy, MFS are reviewed every two years.  The MFS, as part of the salary package, is fully pensionable.
