Chief Executive

Competitive Salary

Doncaster

At Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust (RDaSH) we are passionate about providing high quality care and putting our patients and people at the heart of everything we do. We provide a broad and diverse range of services across mental health, physical health, learning disability and drug and alcohol services to a population of 735,000 people, including ‘place based’ services from over 100 locations. We have an annual budget of £180 million and a dedicated workforce of over 3,400 people.

The pandemic has highlighted some significant inequalities in our communities with COVID-19 disproportionately affecting older adults, those living in deprivation and some communities such as those from a Black or Asian background. It has also significantly affected the mental health of all, but especially our children and young people and those who had an existing mental illness. Across the country people with serious mental illness have, on average, significantly shortened life expectancy than the general population and we have an imperative to develop a deeper understanding of the inequalities affecting our communities so that we can improve our services for all who need us.

In order to address our operational challenges and provide a safe and fulfilling environment for our staff, we must foster new ways of working within the newly formed Integrated Care Systems (ICS), and collaborate externally as part of provider alliances.  A key requirement in this role is the ability to balance these internal and external commitments in a way that puts the needs of patients first, improves the care we provide and supports the delivery of the ICB's quadruple aims; improving outcomes in population health and health care, tackling inequalities in outcomes, experience and access, enhancing productivity and value for money and helping the NHS to support broader social and economic development.

As Chief Executive you will be central to ensuring the right culture and the best governance processes are in place for us to continually improve our services. You will be joining us shortly after our next Chair begins their term and will need to work closely with them to continue to develop a strong unitary board. Leading our executive team and working closely with our Non-Executive Directors, you will role model “boundaryless leadership” developing strong relationships with our system partners, regulators and communities.

The Person

With significant board level leadership, you will be highly strategic, inclusive, and be able to demonstrate a track record of transforming services, enabling organisations to think differently and be ambitious about what can be achieved. You will understand the complexity of leading a dispersed workforce that provides services across health and social care. You will authentically demonstrate compassion for our people and a focus on performance and accountability. You will be driven by your passion for well-being, person-centered care, reducing inequalities, valuing diversity and for empowering staff at all levels.  An exceptional communicator with a high degree of political acumen, you will quickly forge trusted relationships with our stakeholders.

We actively encourage applications from the widest possible pool of candidates and particularly those from underrepresented and minority backgrounds, in order to ensure we are reflective of the diversity of our staff and the communities we serve, and if your ambition matches ours, we look forward to hearing from you.

To learn more about us this exceptional opportunity and how to apply, please contact David Heaton. Robin Staveley or Julia St Clare at GatenbySanderson on 0113 205 6094 for an initial discussion and visit https://rdashappointments.co.uk/
