The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust

Executive Medical Director

West Midlands

Attractive Salary

The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is the main provider of acute hospital services for around half a million people in Shropshire, Telford, Wrekin and mid Wales.

We are striving to provide high quality, safe care for all our patients, and to make our Trust a great place to work for everyone.

In August 2022, the Department of Health and Social Care and NHS England’s Joint Investment Committee confirmed the approval of the Strategic Outline Case (SOC), subject to a number of conditions that will be addressed as we develop the Outline Business Case during the next stage of the Hospitals Transformation Programme (HTP).

Our new Executive Medical Director will play a central role in ensuring that our transformation and investment opportunities are focused on our clinical priorities; and that we create an empowering and clinically led environment with continuous quality improvement at the heart.  Focused on safety and professional standards the Executive Medical Director will recognise and develop our future leaders; supporting all our clinical colleagues to achieve their potential.  As a core member of our dynamic Executive team, you will work with our Director of Nursing to ensure robust clinical governance and risk management practices are upheld and contribute across our strategic agenda as we focus on our plan for ‘Getting to Good’. This role will require a collaborative leader who is able to quickly build credibility across our health and care system.

We are interested to hear from existing or aspiring Executive Medical Directors with significant leadership experience gained in an acute setting.  You will be excited by our transformation journey and the opportunity to build on our significant progress and our potential as we maximise the opportunity to invest in health and care services across our system, creating better outcomes for our populations and supporting them to improve their wellbeing.  A progressive and innovative leader who is motivated by our dynamic, complex and challenging environment, you will work with a supportive and committed Board to build pride in our services and a relentless focus on quality outcomes and experience for all our colleagues, patients, and partners.
