Job Details

A PMO Manager is required for 10-12 months as part of large health change programme of work. The client would ideally be looking to pay a Fixed term contract at 8b, although Interim may also be considered. As this is a large NHS change programme, NHS experience is required alongside significant PMO experience at the appropriate level. Full remote working is offered as well. 

As a PMO Manager you will work as part of the project management office (PMO) team to lead, drive and deliver projects aligned to the  workstream. The breadth and diversity of the projects within the scope of the team provide an excellent opportunity for an experienced PMO Manager who is looking to broaden their experience. 

The post holder will need excellent communication and influencing skills, alongside a comprehensive understanding of the challenging NHS environment and the national requirement. They will need a commitment to process improvement using best practice project management methodologies, skills and tools.

Recognising the demands of the national programme, the candidate will need to have a flexible proactive approach and attitude. We are looking for a candidate with evidence of delivering high quality work and reliably meeting deadlines. The candidate will be a team player who can tailor their communication style to the audience and establish constructive working relationships with stakeholders. 

Specific Responsibilities Include:

  • Deliver significant programme or projects targeted at improvements in health outcomes for the public.
  • Manage the whole lifecycle of a programme of system change, ensuring excellent governance throughout.
  • Support organisational change and the uptake of initiative that support and embed excellence within the health system. 
  • Manage the set up and delivery of multiple projects within a programme of work, working with colleagues and subject matter experts to scope, plan design and deliver those projects. 
  • Review project reports and risk logs for projects, advising individual project managers on escalation process and supporting delivery of projects where there may be significant barriers to delivery. 
  • Manage the whole lifecycle of a programme of work containing multiple projects, reporting on progress, and managing risks and issues, escalating where necessary to the programme/ board. 
  • Provide expertise of best practice project management methodologies.
