Job Details

A Divisional Director of Operations is required for a large NHS Trust. The role will suit candidates who have operated at VSM level and have experience in managing senior teams of staff, ideally within Surgery or relevant services. You will need to be able to work onsite 4-5 days a week and be available start ideally in December but start of January considered. You will be someone with good judgement to make decisions in overseeing large teams and providing valuable support to the General Managers as required.

 

You will be responsible for day to day leadership of the division and take a lead on Elective Recovery, CQC, theatre utilisation and looking ahead to the challenges of financial and performance efficiencies

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Drive the operational performance and strategic development of the Clinical Directorates, including for the delivery of high quality patient care, clinical governance, patient safety, clinical quality, and delivery of financial targets.
  • Have joint responsibility with the other Directors and the Executive Directors for driving forward corporate and cross-cutting programmes of work and service direction.
  • Work closely with the COO and Directors to shape and implement the corporate objectives for the Trust.
  • Have an external focus to facilitate greater working across the Healthcare Community e.g. with ICB's and local authorities, representing the Trust at a very senior level within the NHS and community and with partner organisations, working closely with them to institute integrated working in the best interests of patient care.
  • Provide strong visible leadership within the Division in partnership with the Directors and Divisional Head of Nursing (or equivalent). Drive through the delivery of ambitious targets to continually improve performance within the Division. Lead the development of the Division's strategy and ensure alignment with the Trust's overall strategy and Integrated Business Plan.
  • Introduce new and innovative business management strategies to maximise the organisational efficiency and effectiveness of the Division. Provide professional support to the Directorate management teams.
  • Ensure that staff in the Division are clear about what is expected and are working together in successful teams to achieve the Trust's clinical and academic vision and deliver high quality patient services.
