We are working with an NHS organisation who are seeking to appoint an interim Senior Operational Manager for their Urgent Emergency Care division. This role will be for 3 months in the first instance and will follow a hybrid working solution.

This is an interim role that falls under the Workforce Alliance Framework and should be expected to be remunerated at £400 - £550 per day per day.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Oversight of the Divisional operational performance and support the service development within the respective services within the Urgent Emergency Care directorate;
  • To assist in driving through the delivery of ambitious targets to continually improve performance within the Division;
  • Establish a comprehensive annual plan for the division in collaboration with key stakeholders in line with the key corporate objectives, demand and capacity planning;
  • Monitor and review business and service performance, reporting on performance directly to the Divisional Management Team, and instituting recovery plans where necessary;
  • Support the Division to develop bespoke strategies and ensure alignment with the organisations overall strategy and Integrated Business Plan;
  • Ensure with the Divisional Director, strategic alignment across the organisation and particularly across the Divisions;
  • To oversee substantial budgets, significant numbers of staff and complex operations;
  • Explore new and innovative business management strategies and clinical pathways to maximise the organisational efficiency, income and effectiveness of the Urgent Emergency Care Division;
  • Oversee the development and implementation of cost improvement schemes across the Division on behalf of the Divisional Director of Operations.

The ideal candidate will have: 

  • Master’s degree level qualification in Management or have demonstratable experience working in a similar position, gained over a number of years;
  • Extensive experience at Senior Operational Management level overseeing Urgent Emergency Care in an Acute Trust environment;
  • Evidence of effective design, implementation and management of patient flows and pathways;
  • Significant experience of business strategy development, planning and implementation.
