Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust

Chief Operating Officer

North West

Attractive salary

Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust provides a wide range of inpatient and community-based mental health care to people living in Bolton, the city of Manchester, city of Salford,  Trafford and Wigan and a wide range of specialist mental health and substance misuse services across Greater Manchester and beyond.  We are one of the largest Mental Health Trusts in England,  employing around 6,400 members of staff with c.£450 million annual income, delivering services from more than 160 locations including five hospital sites, many community facilities and in prisons.  Promoting parity of esteem for mental health with physical health, we are shifting our focus to prevention, early intervention, and resilience in communities, to deliver a sustainable and integrated mental health system across the region through collaboratively working with our partners across the Greater Manchester Integrated Care System.

Our new Chief Operating Officer will join at a critical time as we embark on a journey of transformation.  Our Chief Operating Officer will be responsible for the leadership and delivery of a complex range of services, ensuring consistency and effectiveness in the high quality of care and experience for all our service users.  Working collaboratively with partners across the Greater Manchester ICS and our localities to reduce health inequalities, you will support the further integration of our services across the system whilst delivering day to day clinical operations. With a relentless focus on engaging colleagues in achieving rapid and sustained quality improvement, you will also play a key role in strengthening our internal governance and assurance processes.

For this pivotal Board position, we are keen to hear from experienced operational leaders, working at or close to Board level within a similarly complex health and care setting. You will be an exceptional, compassionate and resilient leader who will develop our operational teams to deliver safe, effective and high quality services; quickly building credibility and confidence with staff, partners and regulators at all levels. Building  a culture in which staff are engaged and empowered to innovate to optimise high quality outcomes, you will be an inclusive leader with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. If you have the skills, experience and passion to help lead us on our improvement journey, we would love to hear from you.
