Patient Safety and Risk Manager - Hertfordshire

Salary: £45,000 - £55.000 per annum + Benefits package

Woodrow Mercer Healthcare have been selected to source a Patient Safety & Risk Manager on behalf of a large Private Healthcare Provider based in Hertfordshire on a permanent basis.

Our client is looking for an experienced Patient Safety & Risk Manager to lead on the implementation of Patient Safety systems, processes & initiatives on behalf of the hospital within their Integrated Governance Team. The postholder will be responsible for acting as the lead investigator on complex/serious incidents and provide expert advice on these as required.

The team is a well-knit, collaborative group of individuals and our client is really keen on someone who can amplify that collaboration and is a “people-person” who can give something back to the team other than just experience.

Overall Responsibilities include:

• Promote a systems approach to incident investigations. The ‘systems’ approach underpins the NHS Patient Safety Strategy (July 2019) including the new Patient Safety Incident Response Framework and A Just Culture Guide Lead on or support patient safety improvement projects using project management methodology as required Support local monitoring systems to ensure compliance with national standards (including CQC). Develop and deliver education programmes for patient safety, including: incident investigations methodologies, Duty of Candour/Being Open principles, local and corporate induction and other training needs that may arise Provide expert advice on all aspects of patient safety and CQC Standards as they relate to patient safety Deputise for the Head of Clinical Governance, Quality and Risk as required To take active role in ensuring compliance with all hospital regulatory requirements and ensuring compliance to Spire governance, audit and risk management.

Required Skills / Knowledge:

• Extensive NHS or Private Healthcare background Extensive experience with Patient Safety & Risk Previous exposure to Clinical Governance, Complaints and Patient Experience Experience using the Datix system Knowledge of SI’s and Root-cause analysis

Desired Skills / Experience:

• Clinical Background (not necessarily valid registration) Experience with implementation of the new PSIRF framework
