The UKHSA’s Science Group are looking to appoint its Deputy Director, Scientific Campus Site Management and Engineering.
This role has responsibility for the site management and provision of engineering and other site services to the three main scientific campus sites in UKHSA (Colindale, Porton and Chilton) and sites at Leeds and Glasgow. Its purpose is to ensure the provision of consistent services that enable these sites to deliver their specialist functions safely and effectively.
The scientific campus sites comprise critical national infrastructure and this role should advise and work with peers to maintain these designations.
Oversight of site operations is also required to ensure they are robust, safe, sustainable, compliant, and adaptable, and that they allow efficient delivery of UKHSA activities to support public health.
This role needs to ensure that scientific campus sites support the welfare and wellbeing of staff, meeting diversity needs and ensuring connectivity. Sites need to support interaction and allow engagement across their user profile. In addition, the postholder must ensure that sites are operating with consideration of their environmental impact, for example, waste, access by public transport, utilities, noise, emissions etc.
This role requires either a building engineering background of specialist estate or a scientific/technical background with comprehensive experience of the operation of specialist scientific facilities such as high containment microbiology laboratory operation.
Closing date: 26 March 2023.
We expect to hold interviews week beginning 17 April 2023. Please note, this may be subject to change.
