Director of Corporate Services. Hybrid working (based in Sutton Coldfield). £80,000-£90,000 P/A.

Woodrow Mercer Healthcare are currently looking for a Director of Corporate Services to support a public benefit entity on a permanent basis. The right candidate will be a Qualified Accountant (ACA, CIMA or ACCA) and have recent experience of leading Finance and IT functions.
 

Duties include:

  • Working effectively with the CEO, the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and the Auriga Board to contribute to organisation wide strategy, policy and leadership and deliver key objectives.
  • Advising the CEO and Board on the formation, development and application of policy and strategic decisions relating to Finance and IT
  • Leading, motivating and developing the Head of IT and Head of Finance to ensure they achieve team and organisational objectives whilst role modelling the company's values
  • Leading the development and implementation of the IT transformation strategy
  • Providing leadership on approach to business continuity, financial management, accounting, procurement and IT to ensure compliance with best practice and that policies and procedures are effectively implemented
  • Overseeing the management of the organisation’s digital and financial resources to ensure efficiency, effectiveness and quality of service
  • Developing and embedding a culture of customer focus and performance management to ensure high quality and continuous improvement in the delivery of finance and IT services
  • Leading the development and delivery of effective strategic and operational forecasting, planning, monitoring and reporting to support Senior Leadership Team and Board decision-making
  • Providing the CEO, Board and other members of the Executive and Senior Leadership Teams with robust analyses of the financial position of the company and its trust funds
  • Ensuring the provision to the ELT, SLT, Board and budget holders of relevant and timely financial information to support delivery of core objective
  • Providing expert and professional guidance on all financial related issues by maintaining an up-to-date understanding of charity law and charity commission guidelines
  • Co-ordinating the provision, review and implementation of all policies relating to financial management to ensure legal and regulatory compliance
  • Working with and developing the use of financial accounting software and other software as required to meet the operational and strategic development needs of the business
  • Working closely with the Director of People with regards to payroll, pay and reward reviews and facilities management.
  • Leading on the tender of internal and external audit services
    Ensuring the smooth operation and security of all ICT systems including liaison with external contractors
  • Overseeing the relationship with the outsourced IT support provider, ensuring optimal support to staff, and monitoring performance against contract
  • Ensuring that adequate disaster recovery plans and business continuity plans are in place to ensure the organisation can continue to function effectively
  • Ensuring that the organisation identifies and mitigates against cyber risk
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and statutory requirements, in relation to, corporate governance, data protection and information security
  • Work with and attend and present at meetings internally and externally with Trustee Boards

Key skills and attributes: 

  • Fully Qualified Accountant ACA, CIMA or ACCA
  •  Experience of managing multiple income streams and restricted funds
  • Demonstrable progressive and relevant experience of successfully overseeing IT transformation projects
  • Recent experience of leading Finance and IT functions including developing team to deliver high performance and exceptional customer service
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues at all levels, including the Executive Leadership Team, Senior Leadership team, Board members and customers
  • Ability to use customer and 360 feedback to provide responsive and customer focussed services across all areas of responsibility
  •  Evidence of developing, implementing and monitoring standards of performance against operational targets
  • An ability to think strategically and translate strategies into achievable goals
  • Ability to think creatively and generate innovative solutions to changing priorities
  • Sound judgement and decision making skills
  • A successful track record of influencing, giving professional advice to and building effective and productive working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills
  • A commitment to follow the policies, procedures and philosophical principles of public benefit organisation and a strong commitment to empowerment, support and development of the organisation.
  • Experience of social impact investment is desirable
