About Cobalt:

Cobalt Health (Cobalt) is medical charity established in 1964 with a vision to pioneer innovation in medical imaging diagnosis. The Charity not only invests in the latest imaging technology, but also people, integrated research and education. Each year, Cobalt provides diagnostic imaging for over 130,000 patients through imaging centres in Cheltenham and Birmingham and a fleet of seventeen MRI, CT and PET/CT mobile and modular scanners. The Charity is also the leading provider of ultra-low dose CT, supporting the Targeted Lung Health Check programme in the UK, working in partnership with the NHS.

Cobalt not only funds external NHS research posts, but also participates in research on a national and international basis. The Charity also provides training programmes for medical professionals and supports undergraduate radiography students with clinical placements.

This is an exciting time to join the Charity. Cobalt has grown significantly in recent years, initially through acquiring additional mobile CT scanners to respond to support the NHS through the COVID-19 pandemic and the senior management structure is being enhanced with new posts, including the Director of Clinical Operations position.

About the Role:

As Director of Clinical Operations, you will be an integral part of Cobalt’s Senior Management Team, supporting the development of the Charity’s strategy and imaging services. With responsibility for the management and operational performance of the clinical services teams, you will work closely with the clinical Heads of Departments to lead these services. Key responsibilities include maintaining and enhancing quality for our patients and other stakeholders, ensuring standards, regulatory and contractual compliance. You will also work closely with the Chief Executive to support Cobalt’s ongoing business development, identifying new contracts and business opportunities. You will represent Cobalt with external stakeholders and deputise for the Chief Executive as required.

About You:

You will be a strong leader, supporting and promoting the values of Cobalt. With a healthcare background, you will have demonstrable experience of working at a senior level, leading and managing a team, and driving performance and quality improvements.

You will have sound financial and business knowledge, having successfully managed and developed services, including identifying and developing new business opportunities. You will have a strong knowledge of CQC and other regulatory/quality frameworks, and a proactive and positive approach to compliance, patient choice and experience, and risk management.

An excellent communicator, with strong influencing and negotiating skills, you can effectively manage competing priorities and deadlines. Acting as a positive role model, you lead change, inspiring and motivating managers, teams and individuals to succeed.
