We are now seeking a highly capable and credible Director of Corporate Development to operate as a key member of our executive team. As a non-voting Board Director working closely with the CEO and Chair, you will exhibit and promote collaborative leadership behaviours that uphold our values of Compassion, Openness and Excellence and play a key role in advancing the Trust's vision and support the public, patients, staff, and local partners in achieving the best possible health outcomes.

University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust is a large integrated acute and community provider and a major teaching hospital which is a trusted anchor institution at the heart of our communities. With a turnover approaching £1bn and playing an influential and critical role in two integrated care systems, we are an organisation of considerable scale, complexity and potential, and we recognise the important role we can play in supporting the public, patients, our own people and local partners in achieving the best of health for the local population and the communities in which they live by providing Exceptional Care Together.

In joining UHDB, you will be responsible for leading the Trust's corporate governance, development and providing strategic guidance on matters such as business planning and commercial ventures and  partnerships. Alongside being a crucial internal leader, you will be a key partner across our two ICSs, working closely with internal and external stakeholders to drive seamless care and reduce health inequalities.

To be successful in this role, you will bring a sustained track record of success in a similar setting inside or outside of the NHS. We are interested in your approach to leadership and would like to understand the transferable skills you have gained from senior leadership roles in complex and regulated organisations. Strong experience in board governance, corporate strategy, regulation, legal and risk in a customer focused environment is essential, as is a genuine commitment to diversity and inclusion and the ability to inspire and lead others.

The ideal candidate will have a progressive, forward-thinking approach to governance and will be a natural relationship builder who can foster strong connections with partners across the Trust and the wider health system. With a compelling track record of success in a director or sub-director role, you will be able to bring your skills to the Trust, and your ability to engage sensitively with a wide range of stakeholders and alignment to our values are of the utmost importance.

UHDB are actively seeking to increase the diversity of our Board and senior team and to make it truly representative of our workforce and local population. We therefore encourage candidates from a range of diverse and inclusive backgrounds to apply.

This role offers a significant and impactful opportunity to join a large, complex, and influential organisation, and if your values and ambition match ours, and the prospect of making a tangible difference to the large and diverse population served by the Trust appeals to you, then we look forward to hearing from you.
