Alumni Global is searching for a new Chief Nursing Officer for a large and complex foundation trust based in Berkshire, due to the ‘promotion’ of the current postholder into a national role.

The Trust is one of the largest general hospital foundation trusts in the country, providing acute medical and surgical services to Reading, Wokingham and West Berkshire and specialist services such as cancer, dialysis and eye surgery to a wider population across Berkshire and its borders. Nationally, it is an upper quartile performer and is rated as “Good” across all sites by the CQC. It plays an active role in the Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire West ICS and works in close collaboration with primary, community, social care and mental health providers within Berkshire.

This is a really exciting time to be the CNO, as well as leading a fully recruited and award winning CNO team; the CNO is also the Executive Lead for our successful Trust-wide Continuous Quality Improvement Program (CQI).  The Trust has an ambitious programme of transformation across five long term objectives regarding Quality, Our People, System Integrating, Innovation and Financial sustainability. With strong academic partnerships and a location within the Thames Valley health tech environment the organisation is well placed to develop a range of local and regional partnerships in order to further the aspirations set out in the Trust’s Strategy

Applicants for the Chief Nursing Officer should have deep experience of providing professional clinical leadership in a complex environment. With a successful track record, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering an ambitious vision, contributing to the ongoing cultural development, and ensuring values are embedded within the organisation.  The CNO has a wide-ranging portfolio and works with all Board colleagues and will have a key relationship with the Chief Medical Officer and the Chief Operating Officer.

We are looking for an individual who can shape the development of services, ensuring patients receive the highest quality of care in a safe and secure environment, while continuing to shape the culture so integral to the Trust’s success. You will be highly skilled in leading change and continuous service improvement, and be a natural collaborator with an engaging and persuasive style. Serving as a member of a high performing Board Team, you will also need to have poise, gravitas and diplomatic skills for dealing with an array of internal and external stakeholders.

We believe this is an exciting opportunity to join a stable and high performing Board (and team) that is committed to its own development as well as progressing individual’s career ambitions.
