We are pleased to be advertising for a Deputy Director of Corporate Governance to join our forward-thinking and committed Executive Team.

Our organisational vision as defined in our 2022-27 ‘Making a Difference’ Strategy is: ‘We will make a difference to the communities we serve by delivering the highest quality physical and mental health care to our patients, and by tackling inequalities in outcomes, experience and access’.

We are clear that efficient corporate governance systems and processes which are easy to navigate are critical to realising this ambition.  With a new Chief Executive having joined us in December and the Director of Corporate Governance in June, the successful candidate will have much scope and opportunity to support shaping our governance systems, structures and processes.  The opportunity to influence and embed good corporate governance arrangements is significant and you would be joining us to help to continue our journey of continuous improvement in this critical area.

As one of the largest Community and Mental Health Trusts in the country, delivering local, regional and national services, this could be the perfect 'next step' for an enthusiastic seasoned specialist in Corporate Governance.

Main duties of the job

As a Deputy Director of Corporate Governance, you will be expected to be an expert source of knowledge. The successful candidate will provide effective strategic leadership and ensure that Nottingham Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust has systems and processes in place which provide robust assurance to the Trust, it's Board, Board sub-committees and the Executive Management Team.

The post holder will have a central role within the Trust and will play a pivotal part in helping the Director of Corporate Governance setting the strategic direction, as well as ensuring business delivery and the timely and accurate assurance and performance of corporate governance. The post holder will, through best practice, ensure there is an effective framework for the flow of information between the responsible officers, on behalf of the executive leadership team and will be a focal point of contact with the extended leadership team of the Trust. The Deputy Director of Corporate Governance will support the Director of Corporate Governance in providing advice to the Board and the Trust on matters of corporate governance, legal and statutory compliance.

The post holder will be responsible for the management and escalation of operational issues and risks against the fulfilment of the Trust strategy and ensuring timely data is collated, correctly analysed and understood and accurately reported on.
